There is a nice program called "Mobile Atlas Creator".
http://mobac.dnsalias.org/

It creates offline maps from many different sources.
And you can save the maps in many different formats.

For example you can save maps in OZI Explorer format.

Wouldn't it be nice to copy such a map to your device and have an overview of the caches around you?

Or to use such maps for navigation to the cache?

GCzII can output a OZI Explorer waypoint file that can then be loaded into oziExplorer CE. That is what I do for backcountry mountain caching.

Aslo, did you read the static map FAQ/Helpful Hints thread? It details how to get satalite and terrain maps from google.

Hello Admin,

yes I read the FAQ and it works fine with the google maps and satellite maps in the description.

But, I don't have OZI-ExplorerCE and I don't have a internet flatrate.
I like the overview in Google maps, but i can't use Google maps offline.
... and it would be very helpful to navigate to the cache with a map in the background.

I know there are lots of Programs that can do that. OZIExploererCE, TwoNav, TouratechQV, Fugawi ...

And with "Mobile Atlas Creator" you can download really good maps (much more details than google maps).
Please think over it.

Well Tom was happy to put stuff in for TomTom, and oziExplorer, so he may well be interested in this too whhen he is doing active development again. We will see.
