Cachebox (caching software)
Great bit of software, has a proper SQL database, search facility, map download, GCVote and loads more...
It is also well supported
Needs GPX tho'

CACHEBOX SUPPORT
Is anybody still using this?
Anyone know of a support forum in english?
I have an older version (517) and I tried to update to the latest version (674) and the touch stopped working on the description page and the text was enlarged.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
It's my main geo-software, I only use GCz for impromptu caching now.
Only German Forum I think.
HOWEVER, I upgraded to the latest version.
Now for the bad news; it wasn't straightforward....
From memory you have to load a new version of .NET, a SQL update and delete your database because the data structure changed.
If I can find the info I'll post it...
Good Luck and it's worth it.
PS I use a HTC Touch II.
PPS I think it's being ported to Android...

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
I have just tried to install these 2, and my version of .NET was already 3.5, so ok, no problem. I then tried to install SQL and the phone (HTC HD2) is saying "There is no application associated with "SSCEDeviceRuntime-ENU.msi". Run the application first, then open the file within the application" I am not really sure what this means.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

This is the full PC install which allows ActiveSync to then load it onto a Mobile...ahomburg wrote:"There is no application associated with "SSCEDeviceRuntime-ENU.msi".
Just the .cab on it's own is available here.

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
ok, thats all done, but no change to the cache page in cachebox, touch not operating.
I even went as far as updating to a newer version of the phone ROM.
Is there a particular order I need to do this in?
Thanks again tmax for your help.

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
After installation you should have an empty database with no caches. Does the software work then...
Does the software work at all after importing a GPX ?
Have you tried a new GPX from GS...
PS My memory card corrupted last night. Did a fresh install (ver 1.0.680) no problem....

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
OK, just uninstalled cachebox, removed remaining folders, re installed it, ran it, works ok (Although cant tell if the cache tab works due to no data), loaded a new database with ~300 caches, loads ok, all tabs ok except the cache tab, the touch is not working and all the text is large.
Might have to go back to 517

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
So the map works, which would suggest it can read the data and it's in the correct format.
All I can suggest is that you try loading previous versions, maybe one of them install some fonts or something.
This page (in German) says there should be no problem installing...

Re: Cachebox (caching software)
The font problem described in Cachebox is caused by .NET 3.7.
Uninstall 3.7 and load 3.5, all should work fine...
PS 3.7 is too new....
